Effective Chairing Skills

Event placeholder
Session 1: 14 September, 10am – 1pm

Session 2: 5 October, 10am – 1pm

  • Do you sometimes feel you haven’t got the actions or decisions needed when chairing or attending meetings?
  • Does your approach to formal meetings need a refresh in terms of preparation, planning and structure?
  • Are you looking for professional support to understand how to use your interpersonal skills when chairing meetings?

Chairing successful meetings is a vital skill in the Primary Care environment. Successful meetings provide an essential forum for planning, debate, information, briefings, decision-making, engagement and involvement of staff.

This interactive module is designed to give those who chair meetings in Primary Care guidelines on best practice in preparation, planning and structure of meetings to ensure successful outcomes. It is also designed to enable participants to learn and practice the effective skills/facilitation of chairing and participating in more productive meetings. You will be encouraged to participate in a range of exercises, such as role play, facilitation of groups etc.

We have been running this module for many years, the uptake from colleagues is always strong and the feedback is particularly positive. We have decided to commission a cohort of the Effective Chairing sessions for Primary Care colleagues only, so that you can work with the provider on the specific challenges faced within Primary Care and how things differ from the workings of Trusts, CCGs etc.
